Product Description:
PlansPlus is a PowerTool for the enhancement of the
printing and exporting functions in the Punch! program. First of
all, it supports flexible scale selection for printing. In addition
to the common english and metric scale factors, hobbiest scales and
a custom scale option are available
The plan export function includes support for several export formats: a user can export in the traditional bitmap (.bmp) format, and also as a Windows extended metafile (.emf). This latter format is resolution independent - it may be viewed or printed using metafile-aware software (such as Paint Shop Pro) in any desired resolution, independent of Punch! and PlansPlus. Finally, the user may also choose the Portable Network Graphic format (.png), which is compressed and Internet-ready for direct uploading to a website. The export function in PlansPlus supports setting the resolution of the .bmp and .png file formats; the metafile, of course, doesn't need it as it is resolution independent until it is displayed.
Printing facilities include the Punch! facilities "print to one page" and "print to scale". PlansPlus hosts additional scope, however - a selected section of a plan can be printed, as can the part of the plan that is visible on the current screen, again either to a single page or to as many pages as a fixed scale requires. The interface alerts the user to the number of pages to be printed before the printing is committed.
PlansPlus offers a large number of enhancements to plans:
- Any objects can be rendered in any color on the plan. In the case of wallsets, individual walls may also be colored.
- Objects may also be filled; floors and walls can be filled with hatching, and walls can be hollowed.
- The verbage accomanying plan items ("callouts") can be suppressed on a per-object basis.
- Wall autodimensions can be moved away from or closer to walls on a per-wall basis.
- Set any scale factor desireable; fixed scales for hobbiests (like HO and N scale) and a custom, set-to-anything setting.
- Turn all wall autodimensions to wall centers or edges in a single command.
- Set color and fill on individual walls, as well as in wallsets.
- Allows correct measurements for walls that are not joined as well as for those that are.
- Highlight exterior walls so one can see at a glance if they are properly used.
- Set the font for all the non-dimensional text on a plan.
- Correct the dimensions and geometric representation of roof dimensions, roof holes and skylights.
- With the MicroTool "Dimensions in Detail", allow for setting exact wall lengths.
- Widen printed lines so they can be rendered more visible than the normal "hairline" (single pixel) thickness.

Last, but certainly not least, PlansPlus is the basis of a series of "MicroTools" aimed at using and enhancing the plans that Punch! produces in various ways. These tools will all be able to work within PlansPlus in concert to create plans that are specialized or better adapted for a particular use. An example of such a MicroTool is Dimensions in Detail, which allows for very flexible dimensions in a large selection of units and formats.
