Internet Explorer 6.1 and LiveUpdate malfunction after installing AS18
Symptoms: Internet Explorer no longer allows a right-click to open a new window. LiveUpdate no longer functions correctly. The error "Incompatible Version of the RPC Stub" is received.
Reason: These errors are caused when a newer version of a DLL like Oleaut32.dll and Olepro32.dll (and possibly others) are installed on incompatible systems. For example, Oleaut32.dll version 3.50 is compatible only with Windows XP and causes errors when installed on a machine running another operating system.
Solution: Download and install the AS18 v6.0.1b patch at punchsoftware.com/patch_as18.htm
or
Solution: Visit http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;q321915 and follow the instructions.
How do I upgrade the software I purchased through FastTrack?
FastTrack has localized some, but not all Punch! Software titles. They market, sell, support and upgrade those products independently from Punch! Software. For Technical Support on a program purchased from FastTrack, please contact FastTrack.
Upgrades are not available from titles purchased through FastTrack to titles available from Punch! Software.
My program freezes when I launch a LiveView window. What is wrong?
Punch! Software uses a Windows system component called OpenGL, which takes full advantage of video card acceleration, if available on your video card. Some video cards take "short cuts" when accelerating OpenGL, which can be problematic. If you experience display problems such as hatching or triangulation in the 3D view, etc. it is most likely caused by the video card's accelerator. Confirm that the Display Colors are set to 24 or 32-bit color mode (NOT 16-bit) and set the video acceleration to "None". Also, be sure to download the latest version of your video card's driver software from your video card mfr's website. Due to so many system configurations, contacting your OEM or video card manufacturer is the most efficient way to resolve this conflict. If you experience a General Protection Fault in the OpenGL32.gll module, first try the above solutions, and lastly contact your video card manufacturer for video-card specific information on disabling the 3D rendering or "shadowing" within your system bios.
Will AS18 open files I've created in other Punch! programs?
Yes, but once you have editing your file in AS18, you will not be able to open that file in previous any Punch! program. It is suggested that a user make a copy of a file to be edited in AS18 so that the original file can continue to be opened in the parent Punch! program it was created in, if desired.
When I open a LiveView window, half of the window is black. How do I fix that?
The half-black full LiveView image issue is due to the way Windows 2000 handles OpenGL content. It is most common on computers running the Windows2000 operating system that have video cards with less than 32MB of RAM.
Note: Video RAM differs from system RAM.
To check the video RAM:
- Click the Start button, then click Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double click Display.
- Click the Settings Tab, then click the Advanced button.
- Click the tab titled Adapter. Locate the Memory section. This will display the amount of memory your video card has. Please assure your video card has at least 32MB of RAM when using Punch! Software on Windows 2000.
If your video card has 32MB or greater, let's check the color resolution.
- Click the Start button, then click Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double click Display.
- Click the Settings Tab, then locate Colors.
- At a minimum, your video card should be set to 16 bit high color (no lower). But, your Punch! Software will perform better if you set the resolution to 24 bit high color (if applicable) or 32 bit high color.
In addition, for the best performance you should make sure you have the latest OpenGL drivers and video card drivers installed.
How can I benefit from using AS18?
You can take your existing designs and embellish them without starting from scratch. The breakthrough features of Architectural Series 18 are available to any Punch! file without any type of conversion or redrawing required, all you need to do is open it.
Do you offer a Demo Program or a downloadable version of your software?
Currently we do not offer a demo of any Punch! Software program. We put a large amount of information on our product boxes and here on the Punch! Software website to compensate for this. Of course, the best demo is the product itself, since it comes with a 90-Day Money-Back Guarantee.
We do not offer downloadable software at this time. When ordering from our web site, your order will be shipped via the carrier indicated on your order form.
Can the software print to a plotter?
All Punch programs allow you to print your drawings to any size or tile to any size that a Windows-compatible printer or plotter will support. Our software prints tiled sheets from most standard size printers, allowing you to paste together a large to scale drawing (if you don't have a plotter). Be sure you have the most current printer drivers installed for your particular printer or plotter.
How do I import a DXF file correctly?
Architectural Series 18 can import files in DXF format, provided the DXF file is saved in Revision 12 or before. Ask your architect to export each layer and each level individually. Then launch the DXF Importer/Exporter PowerTool and import the first file. Convert each line to a wall or any other appropriate Punch! intelligent entity. Continue this process for each layer and each level.
What does "LB" and "SB" mean when ordering?
Due to retail shelf space requirements, some Punch! products are packaged in two different box sizes - Large Box (LB) and Small Box (SB), each version with its own unique product number. You may see these designations when ordering our products from certain retailers. Please note that the package contents are identical for any of our products offered regardless of LB or SB-notated packaging.
