Punch! Software Tip #2 : Customizing your Design

The project Stage

After you click “Continue” in Quick Start mode (Tip Quick Start), you are in the Project stage of the design, where you will find the walls and roofs (if you set this option). It is always a good idea to visualize the progress of your work using “Split Screen” mode (half 2D / half 3D).

Customizing the Walls

By selecting any wall, you can use the Tool Options bar (right of the screen) to customize any parameter to fit your project: shape, thickness, height, studs spacing, etc.

Customizing the Roof

As you did with the walls, by selecting any part of an auto generated or manual generated roof, you can use the Tool Options bar (right of the screen) to customize any parameter to fit your project: pitch, elevation origin, etc. In addition, you can select any point of the roof and drag it to a new position in order to modify the shape of that piece.

Adding Doors and Windows

To complete the layout, you can add doors and windows to your design. These tools are located in the Floor tab. As you click on the icon, the menu opens: just select the desired model and click on the wall. By selecting the door or the window, you can use the Tool Options bar (right of the screen) to customize any parameter to fit your design: width, height, elevation, etc.

Materials and Colors

The last touch of your design is the addition of colors and materials. You can apply these elements directly from the libraries or you can create a Custom Palette with all the colors and materials used in the project.  Don’t forget to activate the Smart Wand so, when you apply a color or material on a surface, you have additional options for the application (to all the walls, to all the floors, etc.)

Don’t forget!!

  • Remember to press Enter after each change (Tool Options or Elevation bar) so the modification takes effect.

  • Always check the elevation of the elements.
